FUT Hair Transplant Procedure

  • Identifying Recipient Areas: We begin by identifying the thinning areas, known as “recipient” areas, to develop a personalized plan for achieving the most natural-looking hairline.
  • Preparing the Donor Area: The hair at the back of the head, the “donor” area, is trimmed. Local anesthesia is administered to numb the area for a comfortable procedure.
  • Tissue Removal: A strip of tissue containing permanent, lifelong hair follicles is removed from the donor area. The area is then sutured, and the surrounding hair is used to conceal the sutures.
  • Dissection: Our clinical staff meticulously trims and dissects the donor strips into follicular units, each containing one to four hair follicles.
  • Relaxation: While the units are being prepared, patients can relax, read, take a nap, or watch a movie.
  • Incision and Placement: Tiny incisions are made on the scalp for each follicular unit, with careful attention to location, angle, and depth to ensure natural-looking results and maximize density.
  • Transplantation: The hair transplant surgery team places the individual follicular units into the recipient sites, following the custom plan.
  • Post-Operative Care: Our clinical team provides detailed instructions for caring for the donor and recipient areas and medications for sleep and discomfort.
  • Follow-Up: Patients return the next day for a hair wash and inspection of the recipient and donor areas. Some soreness, tightness, or numbness may be experienced, but most patients can return to work within a few days.
  • Recovery Timeline:
    • One Week: Swelling and redness typically subside.
    • Three Months: New hair begins to grow.
    • Six Months: Noticeable hair regrowth is evident.
